Versions of pizza have existed for centuries. First popular among the working classes of Naples in the 18th century, pizza remained a local dish until after World War II, when it exploded in popularity worldwide. As a food of the poor, pizza had few chroniclers until very recently, which means there's no archive of pizza history, filled with details about important firsts or crucial developments. So there's little agreement and significant mythology surrounding this beloved food, which we seem to like talking about almost as much as we like eating. MYTH NO. 1

WASHINGTON - Executive time began early on Thursday, just after sunrise. Feeling exasperated and feisty as he awoke in the White House residence, President Donald Trump fired off his grievances on Twitter about how the media had been covering his Helsinki summit. And, refusing to be cowed, Trump gave national security adviser John Bolton an order: to schedule a second summit and officially invite Putin to visit Washington.
Good-quality farmed salmon and frozen salmon are available year-round, but fresh wild salmon is a seasonal treat - and that season is right now. What better excuse, then, to make salmon the star of Sunday's supper? In this case, we're going to walk it out to the grill, then top it off with a refreshing salsa. The recipe is almost boringly simple: grilled fish with Greek salad that is chopped down to salsa size. But the angel is in the details.
President Donald Trump on Saturday, July 21, vented about a secret recording taped by his former attorney and seized by the FBI, calling both actions "inconceivable" and maintaining that he did nothing wrong. In a morning tweet from his golf course in Bedminster, New Jersey, Trump said it was "inconceivable that the government would break into a lawyer's office (early in the morning) - almost unheard of."
It was a windy spring day when a small cluster of relatives gathered at the All Saints Cemetery outside Pittsburgh to lay their aunt to rest. The affair was simple -- no hulking tombstone, no choir singing "Amazing Grace," no long sermon. Then came Ken Haselrig's turn.

Marijuana legalization in Colorado and Washington state has "produced some demonstrable and persistent benefit" to police departments' ability to solve other types of crime, according to researchers at Washington State University. "Our models show no negative effects of legalization and, instead, indicate that crime clearance rates for at least some types of crime are increasing faster in states that legalized than in those that did not," the authors write in a study published in the journal Police Quarterly.
WASHINGTON - Two months before the 2016 election, longtime Donald Trump attorney Michael Cohen secretly taped a conversation with the then-GOP presidential nominee about whether to purchase the rights to Playboy centerfold Karen McDougal's account of her alleged extramarital affair with Trump, according to three people familiar with the conversation. The recording, which Cohen made surreptitiously in Trump Tower in early September 2016, was seized by federal agents who are investigating Cohen for potential bank and election-law crimes, according to multiple people familiar with the probe.
Disney fired "Guardians of the Galaxy 3" writer-director James Gunn on Friday after a series of his old tweets, in which he joked about topics such as rape and pedophilia, resurfaced online this week. "The offensive attitudes and statements discovered on James' Twitter feed are indefensible and inconsistent with our studio's values, and we have severed our business relationship with him," Walt Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn said in a statement. Several of the tweets, which dated back to 2009, include jokes involving children and sexual misconduct.
