Emily Ament and Alfredo Urdaneta, both Fresno, Calif., announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.
Parents of the couple are Vince and Betty Ament, Jamestown, and Alfredo and Laura Urdaneta, Bakersfield, Calif.
Emily is a 2000 graduate of Jamestown High School, Jamestown. She graduated in 2005 from Hamline University, St. Paul, Minn., with a bachelor's degree in communication studies and attended medical school at the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, graduating in 2009. She is employed as an emergency medicine resident at Kern Medical Center, Bakersfield, Calif.
Alfredo is a 1998 graduate of Bakersfield High School, Bakersfield, and graduated from UCLA, Los Angeles, Calif., in 2002 with a bachelor's degree in neuroscience. He served in the U.S. Army and then attended medical school at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, New York, graduating in 2006. He is employed as an emergency medicine resident at UCSD Fresno.
An Aug. 21 wedding is planned at St. James Basilica, Jamestown, with a reception to follow at Camp Rokiwan, Spiritwood Lake, N.D.
