BTD Alternative Health Solutions is located at 1209 5th Ave. SE and has been open for a year. The business is owned by Jennifer Bourne, Rich Hastings and Taressa and Mike Lukes. The alternative health clinic specializes in nonpharmaceutical pain management alternatives, using PEMF, massage therapy and medicinal grade essential oils.
The clinic works with clients, their families, health care providers and others on the clients’ medical team to create a care plan specific for their needs to enhance medical treatment they are receiving or as an alternative when conventional medical treatments haven’t worked.
PEMA, or Pulsed ElectroMagnetic Frequency, therapy uses low earth-based frequencies to reduce pain, inflammation, the effects of stress on the body and platelet adhesion, Bourne said. PEMA therapy is FDA approved for pain management, non union bone fractures, wound healing and depression/anxiety.
Bourne, LMT, is a 14-year veteran of the massage therapy profession. A Jamestown native, she returned here to open her practice after graduating from Skin and Bodywork Institute in Grand Forks. She has continued training in orthopedic massage, pelvic stabilization and structural approach to pain management and extensive training in essential oils. She specializes in deep tissue, Swedish massage, pelvic stabilization, pain management, geriatric and sports massage. Bourne teaches classes on health and wellness and essential oils.
BTD Alternative Health Solutions will hold an open house from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17.
