The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs will dedicate the Fargo National Cemetery at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7.

The new 4.82-acre cemetery will serve the burial needs of more than 30,000 veterans and eligible family members in the decades to come, said Randy Reeves, under secretary for memorial affairs, Department of Veterans Affairs.

The cemetery will begin operations shortly after the dedication ceremony is completed, with the first burials likely occurring in mid-October. Arrangements for burial can be made after Sept. 18 through the National Cemetery Scheduling Office at 1-800-535-1117.

The dedication ceremony is free and open to the public. Parking is available at the event site. Attendees are encouraged to carpool and arrive before 10:30 a.m. For questions call 701-451-4650.
