Dacotah Bank has been named one of the Best Banks to Work For by American Banker for the third consecutive year. In 2020 Dacotah Bank climbed the rankings, claiming the 28th place, up two from 2019. Dacotah Bank was ranked 49th in 2018.
American Banker cited Dacotah Bank’s use of virtual communication and learning options, its ongoing conversations with employees throughout the pandemic and the use of the online learning system to share resources pertaining to remote work and burnout. The bank also adjusted the work environment for those who continued to report to the office. Dress codes were loosened, lunch was brought in for departments that were short staffed or busy with PPP loans, and outdoor meetings were occasionally held to allow employees to see one another safely.

The Best Banks to Work For program, which was initiated in 2013 by American Banker and Best Companies Group, identifies, recognizes and honors U.S. banks for outstanding employee satisfaction. Full results of this year’s program are available at American Banker and in the November issue of American Banker Magazine.

Determining the Best Banks to Work For involves a two-step process. The first step is an evaluation of participating companies’ workplace policies, practices and demographics. In the second step, employee surveys are conducted to directly assess the experiences and attitudes of individual employees with respect to their workplace. The combined scores determine the top banks and the final ranking.
Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process and also analyzed the data and determined the final ranking.
The program is open to commercial banks, thrifts, savings banks and other chartered retail financial institutions with at least 50 employees in the United States.
