Dacotah Bank has been named one of the Best Banks to Work For by American Banker for the fifth consecutive year. Dacotah Bank ranked 22nd, up 17 places from 39 in 2021. Dacotah Bank ranked No. 28 in 2020.

The bank provides development opportunities for staff members, offering continuing education, and revamped its employee performance review process to ensure employees and supervisors are on the same page regarding expectations, and to encourage communication.

“Creating a great workplace culture is the best way to retain and recruit employees,” said President and CEO Robert Fouberg.

The Best Banks to Work For program, which was initiated in 2013 by American Banker and Best Companies Group, identifies, recognizes and honors U.S. banks for outstanding employee satisfaction. Full results of this year’s program are available at and in the
November issue of American Banker Magazine.

Determining the Best Banks to Work For is a two-step process. The first step is an evaluation of participating companies’ workplace policies, practices and demographics. In the second step, employee surveys are conducted to directly assess the experiences and attitudes of individual employees with respect to their workplace. The combined scores determine the top banks and the final ranking.

Best Companies Group managed the survey process and analysis of the data and determined the final ranking.

The program is open to commercial banks, thrifts, savings banks and other chartered retail financial institutions with at least 50 employees in the United States.
