The James River Correctional Center recently announced two employees of the month.
Correctional Officer Lennell Smith was chosen as employee of the month for August. Smith worked in the inmate dining room for a couple of months. He worked very well with everyone in the area and was able to catch on to all the procedures quickly, according to his supervisors. He is hard working and not afraid to take on new challenges.
Correctional Officer Val Burgard was chosen as employee of the month for September. Burgard has been involved with the inmates that were transferred here from the Minot Regional Correctional Center due to flood issues. She assists with coordinating their daily work and assigned duties. The MRCC inmates helped with the sandbagging for Jamestown recently. Burgard worked right alongside the inmates helping with the sandbagging herself.
