Knutson named esports head coach for University of Jamestown

He is a graduate of UJ.

Noah Knutson has been named the new esports head coach for the University of Jamestown.

“Noah is a fantastic addition to the Jimmie family,” said John Mazur, UJ director of club and intramural programs. “He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience that will greatly increase the success of the esports team.”

Knutson, a native of Casselton, North Dakota, is a 2019 UJ graduate with degrees in physical education and psychology. During his time at UJ, he competed for the esports team and served as the program’s graduate assistant. Knutson’s brother, Josh, a 2015 UJ graduate, served as the founding coach of the esports program from 2015-2019.

The Jimmies have now been outscored 17-2 this season.

"I'm absolutely thrilled to continue my journey here at the University of Jamestown as the new head coach of the esports team,” Knutson said. “I've been a part of this team since its creation five years ago, and I'm honored to have the opportunity to continue working with it alongside an amazing staff. This program has a special place in my heart, and I can't wait to see it grow and thrive. Go Jimmies!"
