Midwest Dairy Announces 2021 North Dakota Dairy Ambassadors

Two college students will serve as North Dakota dairy industry advocates.

Midwest Dairy has announced Sydney Kleingartner of Gackle and Carmen Entzminger of Jamestown have been selected as the 2021 North Dakota Dairy Ambassadors. These two students will promote the dairy community and support Midwest Dairy’s mission to work with others to give consumers an excellent dairy experience at a variety of activities throughout the year.

Kleingartner and Entzminger were selected from applications across the Midwest Dairy region, including Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota. These students have a passion for dairy, are enrolled in post-secondary school,and possess strong communication abilities, said Midwest Dairy.

The two will represent the dairy industry in a variety of activities, including interacting with consumers and dairy farmers at the North Dakota State Fair, North Dakota Winter Show, Big Iron Farm Show, Dr. Dawn’s Dairy Day and multiple dairy farm open houses and dairy industry meetings.

Kleingartner is from a diversified dairy and farming operation by Gackle and attends Bismarck State College, majoring in farm and ranch management.

Entzminger is from a diversified dairy and farming operation by Jamestown and attends Minnesota State University Moorhead, majoring in social work.

The Dairy Ambassador program also provides students with leadership opportunities to connect with consumers and share their dairy story while networking with their peers and industry professionals. Additionally, each ambassador will be eligible for a $1,000 scholarship at the end of the one-year ambassador term.

“Midwest Dairy’s Ambassador Program embraces dairy tradition while securing the industry’s future by encouraging and supporting students like Carmen and Sydney," said Amber Boeshans, farmer relations manager. "Both were raised on dairy farms and have personal stories about the modern farming practices their families use securing the health of their land and animals for generations to come.”

The Dairy Ambassador program is a coordinated effort between Midwest Dairy and various colleges and state extension programs within the eight states where the programs are available.

Students interested in applying for the 2022-2023 Dairy Ambassador Class can apply at MidwestDairy.com in the For Farmers section, under Ambassador Programs. Applications are due Dec. 1, 2021.
