Barnes County North Public School held a Family Math & STEM Night on Oct. 11 with 20 families participating.
Participants got a chance to play with the Lego WeDos, which are Lego kits that connect to an iPad. Kids can build fans, cars, robots or other designs and then use codes on the iPad to make the Legos move.
Families also had a flying spider challenge. After being given materials such as balloons, coffee filters, straws, string, stickers, rubber bands, craft sticks and a plastic spider, they had to design a contraption for the spider to fly and see whose design could fly the furthest.
Finally, families had the opportunity to learn new card and dice games to enhance math skills and take home a packet of games to play at home as well as a deck of cards.
Title teachers Lisa McMillan and Sara Anderson put on this event.
