JAMESTOWN – A Dudes and Dads camp this weekend aims to address topics that bring chaos to men and their sons.

Temple Baptist Church will hold a Dudes and Dads camp Saturday through Sunday, Sept. 10-11, at Crystal Springs Baptist Camp, which is located at 4848 36th St. SE, Medina, North Dakota. The target audience for the camp is men ages 12 to 22 years old but includes those who are father figures such as an uncle or grandfather.

Attendees will learn about topics that bring chaos to their lives during the learning sessions. Topics include marriage, depression, insecurities and pornography.

“The topic of study is managing what it means to be a godly man in the chaos of our world,” said the Rev. McLean Jones, lead pastor at Temple Baptist Church in Jamestown. “ … For the dudes it’s education. For the dads, it’s how do we raise our sons in the chaos that surrounds us, all the distractions that pull them in different directions and to be good, godly men."

The Rev. Brian Goins, teaching pastor for Family Life Ministries, will speak at the camp. Goins serves as the senior director of strategy at FamilyLife, says Temple Baptist Church’s website, and speaks at Weekend to Remember Marriage conferences. Goins was a co-creator and executive producer of “Brain. Heart. World,” a docuseries for adolescents on the scientific side effects of pornography.

“I am very excited to have him be able to come speak to our guys,” Jones said.

Other activities include high ropes, ax throwing and zip-lining.

The cost to attend the camp is $65, which includes lunch and dinner on Saturday and breakfast and lunch on Sunday. To register for the event, visit https://bit.ly/3KShRVu .

Temple Baptist Church also will hold “Jesus Over Counterfeits” at 7 p.m Friday, Sept. 9, at the church where attendees will learn about counterfeits that take the place of Jesus, including pornography. The event is open to anyone 12 and older and is free to attend.

John Begemen, donor development manager for Pure Desire, will speak during the event. He is passionate about speaking out against pornography and changing the way the church sees it, the Temple Baptist Church’s website states.
