Si Liechty showed a "Convoy of Hope" DVD about a disaster feeding group at the previous Kiwanis Club meeting.
In 2010 Convoy of Hope assisted nearly 8 million people in the United States and around the world by providing food, clothing, medical aid and other needed resources through its community outreaches and disaster response arms.
It helped in the months following the earthquake in Haiti and it also showed volunteers helping the people in Minot after the flood.
Convoy of Hope is considered a first-responder organization in a disaster relief. It has also provided relief to victims of fires, tornadoes, ice storms, power outages, earthquakes, cyclones, tsunamis and floods in various parts of this country and around the world.
Kenrad Pederson led the meeting with 24 members attending and eight inter-club members from the Golden K in Bismarck. Don and Sharon Caine led the group singing and "Happy Dollars" were collected by Pederson for Kids Against Hunger.

Janna Bergstedt reported that the club has raised $15,000 of the $25,000 that is needed to do the Kids Against Hunger packaging, which will be on Oct. 29. Once the club gets to $25,000, the money will be matched by an anonymous donor. Bergstedt reported on various churches that are doing some fundraising meals to help.
Sharon Caine asked for applause to thank all of the officers that had served this past year. Delette Winkleman, who has been the secretary for 15 years, will now be replaced by Pederson.
There will be an installation of Kiwanis officers for 2011-2012 at the Oct. 10 noon luncheon at the Lantern Room. Doug Wolf, Region 1 district lieutenant governor, will be attending.
