The James River Valley Library System has set up the ninth annual Mitten Tree and is seeking new or gently used mittens, gloves, hats and scarves.

To help those who may not have the necessary items during the cold weather season, JRVLS placed the Mitten Tree in the adult section of Alfred Dickey Library, located at 105 3rd St. SE. All donations will be given to Salvation Army, which will give these items to those who need them.

Items may be brought to the library through Dec. 31.
