The Santa Cop and Kids program is seeking donations for this holiday season, according to the Jamestown Police De-partment.

The Santa Cop and Kids program allows children to shop for gifts for themselves and/or their families with a member of the Jamestown Police De-partment, Stutsman County Sheriff's Office or North Dakota Highway Patrol. The children and officers also share a meal.

The officers can help up to 36 children a year, said Sgt. Tom Nagel of the Jamestown Police De-partment. All of the children have suffered some sort of trauma like illness, death in the family or financial hardship, he said.

The program, which is funded solely through donations, has been held in Jamestown since 1998. This year, children will shop with officers on Dec. 10.

Donations can be left at the Jamestown Police Department, Stutsman County Sheriff's Office or North Dakota Highway Patrol offices, all located at 205 Sixth Street S.E.
