The 2019 Runnin O’ the Green will be Saturday, March 23, according to Larry Knoblich, founder of the event.
The annual pub crawl draws several thousand people each year and usually falls on the Saturday closest to St. Patrick’s Day, March 17. That means the event would fall on March 16 next year. However, Knoblich is pushing the date for the event back a week in 2019 since the University of Jamestown landed the first NAIA women’s wrestling invitational tournament for the same weekend. The Women’s National Wrestling Invitational will be held at Harold Newman Arena on March 15-16 and is expected to bring 300 wrestlers, along with coaches, officials and families to Jamestown.
“I Just feel that it’d be best for all of us and for the community,” Knoblich said of moving the date for the Run, which also brings visitors to the community. “I’ve always been an advocate we should spread out our events.”
Knoblich said he is happy that Jamestown is able to draw an event like the national wrestling tournament.
