The public is invited to attend a free concert by Joel and Isaac at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at the 1883 Stutsman County Courthouse, 504 3rd Ave. SE, Jamestown. The Fargo duo will be playing Civil War era and 20th century music.
The site is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday and closed Monday and Tuesday. It is the oldest courthouse in the state and was the location of several meetings during the 1880s movement toward statehood. The building houses the most complete collection of pressed tin in the state and has recently undergone a major restoration.
The Deb Jenkins Band and Margreat Sam will be featured during the second Downtown Arts Market on Thursday, June 13, in the Hansen Arts Park. The Market is from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The Deb Jenkins Band, which began more than 20 years ago with the name Second Wind, is sometimes referred to as a Jazz band, but says the heart of the band is rhythm and blues.
Margreat Sam is a master dance teacher who taught for 25 years in India and was founder director of Relina’s Natyalaya and Reacher Center. She has continued this in North Dakota, preserving traditional dance art forms and encouraging, sharing and introducing Indian culture to students. East Indian dancing will be featured at the Downtown Arts Market.
Next week’s Mraket will feature the Ryan Keplin Band and Northern Plains Dance Company.
Sam will demonstrate Bharatanatyam East Indian dance and encourage the audience to participate. Bharatanatyam is an Indian classical dance that originated in the Hindu temples of Tamil Nadu and neighboring areas.
The Buffalo City Photo Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, at the Hansen Arts Studio. The topics are focused primarily for DSLR camera users.
