A variety of events for children to celebrate Halloween are planned next week in Jamestown.
Jamestown United Way will hold the second annual Nierling Fund Trick or Treat event from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at McElroy Park, 502 15th St. SE.
This is a drive-through-style trick-or-treating event. United Way volunteers will pass out treat bags in McElroy Park and there will also be family-friendly spookiness from the Buffalo City Scream Team.
This is a free event, made possible by the Nierling Fund. The fund honors the late Dr. Richard Nierling, who left money to United Way in order to provide community resources and activities for Jamestown children and families.
The Jamestown Calendar also lists Halloween activities planned for children. They include the following:
On Saturday, Oct. 30, two activities are slated. Boo Bash will be from 10 a.m. to noon at the Two Rivers Activity Center. Games, family-friendly activities and door prizes are planned. Admission is free, but everyone is encouraged to bring a donation for the local food pantries. Costumes are welcome (no face coverings or weapons). The event will be held in the gymnasium so those attending are asked to wear appropriate and clean shoes.
