Flag-burning ceremony set

A ceremony honoring the U.S. flag and an official flag-burning ceremony are planned for Flag Day, at 7 p.m. Monday, at Fort Seward in Jamestown. Following a short program, the Girl Scouts of Jamestown will conduct the burning ceremony.

A ceremony honoring the U.S. flag and an official flag-burning ceremony are planned for Flag Day, at 7 p.m. Monday, at Fort Seward in Jamestown. Following a short program, the Girl Scouts of Jamestown will conduct the burning ceremony.

The ceremony is sponsored by the Patriotic Council of Jamestown, which will be serving refreshments and cookies after the ceremony. The public is invited to attend.

Anyone who has an old, faded or torn flag can bring it to the ceremony for proper disposal or drop the flag off at the All Vets Club, 116 First St. E., Jamestown, by Saturday.

Fort Seward is located on the northwest hill of Jamestown on Highway 281.

The Patriotic Council is made up of representatives of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, Vietnam Vets, 40 & 8 and AMVETS and their auxiliaries.
