Gate City Bank has announced its annual Giving Hearts Day giveaway. This year, the bank is making a difference in its communities by donating more than $250,000 to Giving Hearts Day charities. Part of this commitment includes $75,000 donated to charities chosen by the community as part of the bank’s annual Giving Hearts Day nomination contest, which is growing in popularity.
Since 2013, Gate City Bank has donated more than $1 million to Giving Hearts Day nonprofits that play critical roles in surrounding communities. In the last three years, the bank received more than 230,000 Giving Hearts Day charity nominations and delivered 13 surprise charity boosts totaling $138,000. (Boosts are bonus donations given to charities that are randomly drawn from the list of nominations.)
In 2020, Gate City Bank gave more than $250,000 for Giving Hearts Day to local charities throughout the region. After more than 70,000 nominations were made by community members, 31 charities were given a $2,500 gift from Gate City Bank, totaling more than $75,000. Gate City Bank gave away a total of $60,000 between five lucky charities in surprise donations on Giving Hearts Day.
For 2021, from Jan. 20 through Feb. 2, community members can nominate Giving Hearts Day charities to receive a $5,000 donation from Gate City Bank. Nominations are accepted online or at any Gate City Bank location . Fifteen charities will each win $5,000. The bank is also giving back in 2021 by matching each team member’s donation to a Giving Hearts Day charity, as well as its volunteer time for its favorite Giving Hearts Day charities and more.
