The Jamestown Community Foundation has recently awarded a $1,000 grant to the Jamestown Area Grief Support Team. The grant will allow for the purchase of books, journals and supplies for use during the two six-week support groups that the team offers every year.

Members of the Jamestown Area Grief Support Team volunteer their time to plan, prepare and facilitate the groups, which offer assistance to widows, widowers and others who are in the midst of their journey of grief. Over the years, the number of people served by this all-volunteer Grief Support Team has greatly increased, the JAGST says, with attendees coming from many towns across the county as well as Jamestown.

The JAGST was founded in 2002 with the goal of supporting those who have experienced the death of someone they love. The JAGST also holds an annual weekend Widows Retreat, educational programs, memory services and is in the process of planning an all-day event for widowers. Its mission is "Growing through grief, bringing hope, healing and wholeness."

The Jamestown Community Foundation can be reached for information about the organization or its grant applications/guidelines by going on-line to https://bit.ly/3FxBXRx or by contacting Barb Lang at 701-320-4570. Donations can be mailed to Jamestown Community Foundation, P.O. Box 2004, Jamestown, ND 58402.
