Jamestown Community Foundation awards grant to Jamestown Rural Fire Department

The funds will be used for equipment.

We are part of The Trust Project.

The Jamestown Community Foundation has awarded a $2,500 grant to the Jamestown Rural Fire Department to assist with its purchase of an ultra-high pressure firefighting unit, which has been placed on the back of a 6x6 UTV Side-by-Side. The unit holds 70 gallons of water and 5 gallons of firefighting foam.

Due to the extreme drought in 2021, the JRFD responded to more than 100 fire calls with more than 60 being wildland fire responses, and the additional equipment is essential to bring fires under control more effectively. The JFRD service area is 22 townships, approximately 828 square miles of primarily farm and ranch land in eastern Stutsman County. The area encompasses the James River and Pipestem River valleys, which include Jamestown and Pipestem reservoirs and the city of Spiritwood Lake. The JRFD also has 13 mutual aid agreements with other neighboring fire departments.
