The Jamestown Community Foundation has awarded a $1,500 grant to the 4th Ave Bridge Memorial Garden in Jamestown. The grant will is to assist with the purchase of a new water pump and attractive fencing along the edge of the river.

This garden was first established in 2000 and is a public garden/parkette used by many people in the neighborhood and enjoyed by those who happen to drive by.

The design, development and upkeep have been managed for the past 22 years by two women who live nearby, Carla Holzer and Adele Harrington, who have put thousands of hours of work into making the garden more beautiful each year. Two years ago, a Free Little Library was added.

There are five memorial plaques, with walkways and park benches and many perennials and annuals. Engagement and wedding pictures have been taken among the flowers during the summer months.

For more information about the garden and opportunities to make donations to continue the support necessary to keep the garden going in the future, contact Barb Lang at the Jamestown Community Foundation at 701-320-4570, for more information on those in charge of the project.
