Jamestown Hospital held its annual Recognition Dinner at the Reiland Fine Arts Center on the Jamestown College campus. Each one of the hospital's 106 volunteers plays a vital role in providing support to patients, their families, visitors and hospital staff, hospital officials said.

Those attending were greeted by Cindy Gohner, vice president of clinical services; Ricki Ramlo, vice president of ancillary services; and Jan Barnes, foundation director. Martin Richman, CEO; Alan O'Neil, chief financial officer; the Rev. Terry Anderson, board member; and Bill Kennedy, marketing director, escorted each volunteer to the table of his or her choice.

Kennedy welcomed everyone and Carol Koosmann, volunteer, gave the table blessing. Dinner was catered by the college under the direction of Janell Wollschlager and served by Trisha Jungels, home health and hospice manager; Marilyn Olsen, administrative assistant; Nina Hintz, lab; and Priscilla Kungel, admissions supervisor. Barnes and Anderson gave out the special awards for service.

Those receiving these awards and the area(s) in which they recorded service in 2009: Audrey Barnes, Telecare and auxiliary events; Betty Polries, auxiliary and Gift Shoppe; Marlys Wiest, front desk, home health and auxiliary; Marlys Perleberg, Gift Shoppe, baking and auxiliary events; Lue Struble, auxiliary treasurer, materials management, Gift Shoppe, foundation, sewers, auxiliary events and community events; Alice Williams, auxiliary president, sewing, Gift Shoppe, community events and auxiliary events; Jeanette Srozinski, Telecare chairman and sub, foundation, auxiliary events, community events, sewing, baking and Gift Shoppe; Janet Van Bruggen, baby caps; Margaret McBride, Gift Shoppe Volunteer of the Year, and Carolyn Exner, Auxiliary Volunteer of the Year.

Anderson and Jan Barnes also shared examples of how volunteers are the mainstay for quality care and service. Ginne Hendrickson, volunteer manager, reported that two new services, Information/ Escort and Adopt a Room, will be available at the Jamestown Regional Medical Center in which couples and families can participate.
