Kiwanis learns about Real World Camp

Jamestown’s Real World Camp taught 202 students about personal finance this spring.

“Anything and everything that you would pay for in real life, the students learn about it at this one-day camp,” said Chelsey Francis, event organizer.

Real World Camp began as the brain child of the late Kayla Curtis.

In Real World Camp, each student receives a life scenario - their age, marital status, jobs, etc. Then, they travel booth to booth and experience life events that range from replacing appliances to the birth of a child.

“It’s an eye-opening experience for the students,” Francis said.

Twenty-four members and guests attended the July 1 Kiwanis meeting. Don and Sharon Caine led music. Francis collected "Happy Dollars. "
