MINOT, N.D. (AP) -- People interested in a law enforcement career can now get a criminal justice degree and also law officer certification through Minot State University.
The school is partnering with Lake Region State College in Devils Lake, the Minot Police Department and the Ward Count Sheriff's Office to bring the college's police officer training academy to Minot.
Similar programs already are in place in Grand Forks and Fargo. The Minot Daily News reports that the training in Minot is to start in January.
Lloyd Halvorson, director of peace officer training at Lake Region State, says the program has trained about 1,200 officers since 1987.
