North Dakota native Marney Shirley is Unison Bank’s featured artist for July.
Each month, Unison Bank features local artists, photographers, quilters and creators and their products or services. Since 2013, the bank has featured 88 artisans.
Shirley has displayed button bouquets and paper flower arrangements throughout the lobby of Unison Bank in Jamestown.
“Once I retired, I had the time to be more creative and fulfill a dream of having a store – even though mine is a pop-up variety,” Shirley said. “I enjoy using recycled items and the challenge of making something that was once discarded by others into a new treasure."

Shirley first began creating button and paper flower arrangements, as well as vintage ornament wreaths in 2012-2013. She has found that it is a way to pass time that brings pleasure to herself and to others at the events she participates in.
“The eyes that light up and the smiles that widen are as valuable to me as the sales made,” Shirley said.
From Shirley’s first bouquet, she has continued to create unique pieces for family, friends, gifting and for the shows that she attends. Her pieces are often found at the Dakota Store in Jamestown and Pride of Dakota and The Big One shows throughout North Dakota. Her store, Marney’s Sonshine and Sweet Pea Crafts, may be found on Facebook.
We’re honored to allow local artists the opportunity to display their unique talents,” said Unison Bank President and CEO Kelly Rachel. “Our doors are open, and we invite the community to stop by and see the beauty of what these artists have to offer.”
