Myron Sommerfeld & The Music of the Stars Orchestra will perform as part of the Music in the Park series at the Valley City Park Bandshell on Wednesday, July 13 at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, July 13. Prior to the program, a tree planted in memory of Peggy Lee will be dedicated. Sommerfeld has been instrumental in restoring the history of Peggy Lee to Valley City.

Through the years, Sommerfeld's music has been featured on radio, TV and recordings. They have traveled the U.S., Canada and Germany and sailed on a 100-day cruise ship around South America. Sommerfeld received the Valley City State University Music Hall of Fame and Distinguished Alumnus awards. His song, “Steppin’ Out to Go Dancing,” was selected as the theme of the National Ballroom Dance Association.

Bring a lawn chair or blanket to the event. A freewill offering is taken each night for the continued support of the City Park Bandshell. In the event of inclement weather, the program will be moved to the new VCSU Performance Hall on the VCSU campus.
