DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) -- Two students from North Dakota have won the 61st annual Ford/AAA national student auto skills competition held in Michigan.
Organizers of the event that wrapped up Tuesday in Dearborn say 17-year-old McKenzie Nordland of Valley City and 18-year-old Jonathan Anderson of Oriska had the only perfectly repaired vehicle in the competition.
The students attended Sheyenne Valley Area Career and Technology Center. Nordland recently completed his junior year and Anderson graduated last month. They worked on a 2010 Ford Flex crossover.
The competition brings 50 two-person teams of student automotive technicians to the Detroit suburb to race against the clock and test their skills for scholarship money. The event is sponsored by Ford and AAA.
