Steiner photography topic at Rotary
John Steiner, award-winning photographer for The Jamestown Sun, was the guest speaker at the Aug, 28 Rotary meeting. He was introduced by Rotarian Larry Hoffman. Steiner showed and explained several photographs that he has taken over the years. His subjects included flowers, birds, deer, butterflies, nature, fall colors and bees to name a few. Many of his photos were taken in his backyard including a doe and her fawn.
Steiner talked about how cameras have changed over the years including the digital camera. He said sometimes it takes multiple shots to get the right picture. Most of his nature pictures are taken early morning or late evening. He likes to take photos of “old glory’ if the background is just right. Small birds do not sit for long so you have to be ready and quick to get those pictures. Photos used in The Jamestown Sun are sometimes decided by the local paper.
Jen Bollingberg presided over the meeting. Amy Walters gave the invocation. Beth Martin collected “Happy Dollars,” and Lyman Keim led the club in song.
Shane Ost will introduce today’s program. Mark Sherfy will have the invocation. Bollingberg will be the song leader, Lyman Keim will collect “Happy Dollars.”
