Registration to open for Coats for Kids
Ave Maria Village collected Coats for Kids again this year for the annual Coats for Kids campaign. Deacon Ken Votava, who oversees the event at Ave Maria, said more coats than ever before were collected this year.
"We had people who crocheted many hats also and many scarves and mittens were garnered this year. Only one pair of boots was given though," Votava said.
Collections were taken at Ave Maria as well as the Salvation Army. Ave Maria participates in this drive every year as part of its mission work. The drive was not just for children's winter wear, but for adult clothing as well.
"Many older children wear adult-size clothing,” Votava said. “It seems like each year the children's boots are one thing that we don't get enough of."
