The Montpelier Older Kids Club will hold its next meeting at noon Tuesday, Aug. 20, at the Legacy Center. Anyone in the Jamestown or surrounding areas is invited to join the group.
The club met Aug. 6 at the Legacy Center for the noon meal with seven members present. Elaine Heinrich opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. The secretary and treasurer’s reports were read and approved. There was no old business or correspondence. For new business, Janet VanBruggen will provide lunch at the next meeting for her husband, Gerald’s, birthday. Dottie Murchie read a poem titled “My Get Up and Go Has Got Up and Went,” which was enjoyed by all. The door prize, a meal ticket, was won by Bruggen. Sharon Hatlewick made a motion to adjourn meeting with a second by Lorraine Gall.
Bingo was called by Sharon Hatlewick. The small picture frame was won by Patti DeBuck and Heinrich won the large picture frame and blackout. Whist was not played. In pinochle, high went to VanBruggen and DeBuck and low to Heinrich and Mary Lee O’Meara.
Lunch was served by Murchie in honor of her birthday which will be later in the month.
