The Stutsman County Area Retired Teachers met April 23 at Two Rivers Activity Center with President Art Mitzel presiding. He led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.
A sign-up sheet was passed around to man the Frontier Village Schoolhouse during June. The group will try and fill in a few more spots next month.
Under new business, the group approved awarding the club’s $500 scholarship. The scholarship is given to a student from the Stutsman County area who is going into education, and there was one application for it. That applicant was awarded the scholarship.
Mitzel appointed an audit committee of Tom Norman and Orlin Will to audit the treasurer’s books. They will have a report next month.
Marketplace for Kids asked for volunteers for its May 7 program, and Schuler, Kay Glynn, Carolgene Wolf and Janet Well agreed to help that day.
For the 2019 NDRTA Convention in Grand Forks, Delores Christy was selected for the Silver Apple Award and Lee Ham will again be the club’s representative. Ham was also nominated for the Ethel Percy Andrus Award.
The meeting ended with the election of officers. They are: Charlotte Freeberg, president; Peg Schlenker, vice president; Schuler and Wolf, co-secretary; and Ham, treasurer.
The club’s next meeting will be a week early, on May 21 at the James River Senior and Community Center.
