Twenty-two Elkettes attended the North Dakota Beach/Luau Party on Jan. 8. Hostesses were Sadie Johnston and Judy Kulla. The guest for the evening was Lanna Slaby.
President Pat Smith called the meeting to order. December's meeting minutes and the treasurer's minutes were read and approved.
Giving Hearts Day is Feb. 13. The Jamestown Elkettes will send a $4,000 check for Camp Grassick.
Feb. 1 will be the group's "Souper Saturday" starting at 11 a.m. at the Elks Club. Tickets can be purchased for $5 from Elkettes and at the door for $7. Soup, sandwiches and dessert will be served until 3:30 p.m.
Larry Knoblich will be invited to the February meeting to discuss the Runnin O' the Green on March 21. The Elkettes will help with a mailing and registration.
"Kooking with Kay," a special fundraiser, will be held in April at a date to be determined. Tickets will be sold by Elkettes for $25 with limited attendance.
Elkettes were reminded of the North Dakota State Elks Convention on July 31-Aug. 2. The next convention meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Elks.
Elkettes will meet at 5 p.m. Feb. 8 to decorate for St. Patrick's Day.
Smith appointed three Elkettes to serve on the nominating committee: Bonny Loose, T.J. Qual and Kim Thoene. They will be asking for a vice president, secretary and treasurer. These are two-year positions. Tyri Boschee will take care of all Elkettes correspondence.
Smith will bring samples of shirts for members to look at for purchase at the February meeting.
January birthdays were recognized: Robin Barkus, Joyce Heinrich, Mel Headland and Sadie Johnston.
Smith, Thoene and Tammy Sand will host the February meeting. It will be a "Friendsgiving" meal. They will have some special wine tasting.
Judy Perleberg won the drawing for the free meal in February.
