At the Jan. 14 Lions meeting, Kathy Clemens introduced guest speaker Jeff Romsdal. Romsdal is president of nonprofit corporation Pure Hockey Skills and a key organizer of the upcoming event, Hockey Day North Dakota. This is the second annual Hockey Day and was held the weekend of Jan. 17-19 on the University of Jamestown campus. All level of players were expected to participate and come from around the state, playing on a temporary outdoor rink.

“Playing outdoor hockey brings the game back to its roots,” Romsdal said.

In other business, Gary Speidel opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and the table prayer. For old business, the Salvation Red Kettle Campaign was discussed. Seven members volunteered to help with ringing the bell at two red kettle locations. Clemens reminded the club that it is responsible for three Meals on Wheels routes for Friday, Feb. 7, and needs volunteers.

The next meeting will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28 at 6:00 pm at Sabir's Buffalo Grill. Prospective members and guests are welcome. For information on membership, contact Randy Lebahn, 701-320-1678.
