Sherry McGuire, Jamestown, was recently appointed state director for the Family Campers & RVers (FCRV). Her appointment was approved Aug. 2 by the organization's National Board of Trustees, effective immediately.

McGuire, a 16-year member of the Roaming Buffalo FCRV Chapter, has served as assistant state director for the past three years. She has served the Roaming Buffalo as chapter field director for 12 years.

She has also served the North Dakota/South Dakota state association as State Campers Actively Moving Program (CAMP) director for 12 years. In addition, she has served the Roaming Buffalo Chapter as chapter CAMP director since 2005, to the present.

McGuire served as a co-team leader, a two-year volunteer commitment, for the July 2019 International Campvention in Hutchinson, Kansas. She and her Kansas co-team leader were responsible for assisting 10 Campvention committees deliver their campvention activities, events and services.

Besides her contributions to local, state, regional and national FCRV, McGuire has shared her time, talents and resources with her community throughout the past 36 years, especially through St. Paul's United Methodist Church.

McGuire owns and manages a part-time custom sewing business. She has two grown daughters, Jillian (and Dominic) Doty, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Cindy (Jake) Thiel of Fargo.

Family Campers & RVers is a volunteer, non-profit group composed of approximately 2,500 members throughout the United States and Canada. In addition to camping together as a group once or twice a month, those who wish may also participate in various FCRV programs, including conservation, wildlife, CAMP (hiking, biking, back packing, canoeing, etc.), disaster awareness training, youth, teen and retiree activities. Members and their children are also eligible to apply for scholarship funds.
