At the May 26 Lions meeting, Kathy Boe introduced guest speaker Mindi Schmitz, The Arts Center executive director. Schmitz said The Arts Center is busy planning activities including summer camps, adult classes, a children’s play, the first Chalkfest and the Downtown Arts Market.
The Arts Center is teaming up with the Jamestown Tourism and Jamestown Downtown Association in hosting the two and half day-Chalkfest on June 24-26. Artists’ pieces will be on display on 2nd Street Southwest in front of Hansen Arts Park. The Downtown Arts Market will also kick off on June 24 with entertainment from Jesse Veeder. Schmitz also said they are looking for volunteers to help set up and take down on Thursdays for the Arts Market. The Arts Center can be reached at 251-2496 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
In other business, Boe opened the meeting with Pledge of Allegiance and Ed Anderson gave the table prayer. Boe mentioned projects coming up including Meals on Wheel, Stutsman County Fairgrounds clean up and sweet corn sales. A club picnic is being planned for the end of July and Installation of officers will be held in September.
The club does not hold regular meetings during the summer. The next meeting will be 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, at Sabir's Buffalo City Grill. Guests are welcome; for information on becoming a Lion or attending the meeting, contact Randy Lebahn at 701-320-1678.
