The James River Valley Library System will allow patrons on the bookmobile when it begins its summer schedule on June 1. The bookmobile currently provides books to patrons who remain outside the vehicle due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The decision came at the regular meeting of the library board on Wednesday which approved guidelines proposed by the bookmobile staff.
The guidelines allow two unrelated patrons or pods of up to five patrons in the bookmobile when weather permits. The guidelines specify that all doors, vents and windows be open to facilitate air circulation.
Masks are encouraged for staff and patrons, and books will be held out of circulation for three days after return.
