First Community Credit Union of Jamestown recently presented the local Relay for Life with a $2,000 donation in memory of former CEO Stuart Higginbotham. Higginbotham was employed with First Community Credit Union for 23 years, including six as president and CEO. He died after a battle with cancer in December 2009.

"We're honored to make this donation in Stu's memory," said Steve Schmitz, vice president of Administration for First Community. "The funds raised will help save lives, so we are compelled to support such a worthy and appropriate cause."

FCCU has been active with a variety of other fundraising events to help raise money for this year's Relay for Life. Other events include: soup-on-the-go, taco in a bag, grill-out, book sale, an ice cream sale through the drive up and a bake sale. All of FCCU's fundraisers, along with the recent donation, have raised more than $10,000 this year for Relay for Life.
