The North Dakota Safety Council recognized two area individuals Friday as champions for safety in their workplaces and their communities at the 2018 Ceremony of Champions.
The NDSC’s Lifesaver Award is presented annually to individuals who have acted above and beyond the call of duty to assist or rescue another individual. The following people were nominated and recognized at the ceremony for their heroic actions: Catherine Lein of Jamestown and Richard Eversvik of New Rockford.
Lein was working at the Frontier Fort Bar and Grill in Jamestown on Jan. 12, when a customer suffered an apparent heart attack and fell down a staircase. Lein performed CPR on the nonresponsive man until police and paramedics arrived.
