Jamestown Kiwanis Club member Janna Bergstedt introduced speaker Joan Morris at the Feb. 13 Kiwanis Meeting. Morris is the controller at Agri-Cover Inc. and also serves on the Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce’s City Beautification Committee.

Morris shared information about the new sensory garden that will be opening this summer at Solien-Denault Park in northeast Jamestown. She said the area will be devoted to providing experiences for multiple senses - sight, touch, smell, hear and perhaps taste. It’s a partnership with the Jamestown Parks and Recreation Department and the Chamber’s City Beautification Committee. The design and layout will be handicap accessible and available for all visitors.

Another initiative that the Beautification Committee is leading is recycling. Morris said curbside recycling is expected to occur this summer. Recycling containers will be given to residents and picked up every other week, she said.

President Amanda Thrift led the Feb. 13 regular meeting attended by 17 members and three guests. Don Bentz led group singing accompanied by Tim Burchill, and Katie Ryan-Anderson collected “Happy Dollars” for the Salvation Army.
