At the Oct. 28 Lions meeting, Dwaine Heinrich introduced guest speaker Searle Swedland, executive director of Jamestown Tourism. Swedland updated the club on various tourism topics including the James River Water Trail that now has docks on the James River for kayakers, the 1883 Courthouse Civics Exhibit, Fort Seward glamping, expanding the downtown story and the Buffalo City park project and Frontier Fort. Swedland also spoke about grant monies available for different events that bring visitors to the Jamestown area.
In other business, Kathy Boe opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance, and Gary Speidal gave the table prayer. Meals on Wheels delivery was Nov. 6 and the club will be hosting a blood drive on Dec. 1-2 at the North Dakota Farmers Union State Headquarters.
The next meeting will be at 6 p.m. Nov. 11, at Sabir's Buffalo City Grill. The speaker will be Tim Burchill, CEO at Ave Maria Village. Guests and prospective members are welcome. For information on membership, contact Randy Lebahn, 701-320-1678.
