“My Journey Around the Sun,” featuring artwork by Jessica Wachter, opens at The Arts Center in Jamestown on Thursday, Feb. 2.
Wachter is a highly-acclaimed abstract expressionist artist based in Bismarck. Her mixed media and oil on canvas work is gestural and often large in scale. Her work contains personal celebrations, struggles, joys, loves and losses conveyed through color, texture and composition.
Wachter said she works with abstraction and seeks to imbue it with a tangible essence while keeping it open for the viewers’ own response. Wachter and her work have been acclaimed in major publications and media, and her pieces reside in public and private collections throughout the world.
The exhibit will be at The Arts Center through March 11.
The North Dakota Art Gallery Association is sponsoring the exhibition with
support from the North Dakota Council on the Arts, which receives funding

from the North Dakota Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts.
The Arts Center Gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 5p .m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free.
