The Kiwanis Club of Jamestown inducted Hayley Wolf as a new member at the March 27 Kiwanis meeting. Wolf is the business assistant for Triumph Inc., an organization that works with a variety of disabilities. Wolf is married with three children and first heard of Kiwanis when she and her daughter helped at the Kiwanis Kids Against Hunger event.

Kiwanis member Janna Bergstedt introduced speaker Guinn Hinman at the club meeting. Hinman is the historic sites manager for the North Dakota State Historical Society. She shared information about the Stutsman County 1883 courthouse that is currently under renovation. It’s the oldest surviving courthouse in North Dakota, dating back to 1883. In the 1990s, the State Historical Society took ownership of the facility and in 2012 began a major renovation of the interior including boiler, electrical, bathrooms and more. There will also be a rotating exhibit space in the upstairs jury room. The facility is expected to be open as an exhibit and community center beginning early summer and will be open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m..

Kiwanis President Amanda Thrift led meeting attended by 28 members and three guests. Guests included the speaker and two high school Key Club members, Tiara Zerface and Maggie Ridley. Chuck Axtman led group singing accompanied by Tim Burchill. Sandy Wilhelm collected “Happy Dollars” for the Salvation Army. Wilhelm was the member spotlight for the club, sharing information about herself with the club. She has been in Kiwanis for 15 years and in Jamestown since 1977. This May, Wilhelm will be celebrating 40 years with Unison Bank. She is married to Rod Wilhelm and has two sons.

The April 10 meeting will be held at Edgewood Senior Living as club members tour the new assisted living and memory care facility.
