A variety of arts classes are offered for children in June at The Arts Center. Each class is $60 per student ($5 off for an Arts Center member) and class sizes are limited. Classes will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday and Tuesday for students who have completed grades K-2 and at the same time on Wednesday and Thursday for students who have completed grades 3-6. The classes scheduled in June are:
June 3-6: Watercolor Sketching with Linda Roesch. Participants will sketch outdoors, learning basic watercolor techniques and keeping a sketchbook and will a portable palette home.
June 10-13: Wonderful World of Warli with Sally Jeppson. Explore traditional art from wesetrn India called Warli, which uses geometric shapes to create figures, animals and scenes of daily life. Students will create artworks using the Warli style including paintings, drawing and ottery. They will also "get moving" with east Indian dance instructor Margreat Sam, who will perform at the Downtown Arts Market on June 13.
June 17-20: North Dakota Pride with Jennifer Wentz. Using chalk pastels, oil pastels and watercolor, students will do landscapes, sunrises and sunsets, make bookmarks, key chains and a North Dakotan self-portrait.
June 24-27: German Folk Art Paper Cutting with Sabrina Hornung. Students will learn the basics of scherenschnitte, the traditional German folk art of cut paper, and wycinanki, the traditional Polish art of cut paper. Students will work on a large scale group project.
