The Blue Wailers and Old Friends will perform at the next Downtown Arts Market on Thursday, Aug. 8. The Market runs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Hansen Arts Park, and admission is free.

The Blue Wailers are a traditional five-member blues group based in Minnesota. They say the blues are about feeling good.

The Wailers respect tradition, paying homage to the greats like Robert Johnson, Son House, Elmore James and Muddy Waters.

The band has years of playing experience. Randy Schrenk plays slide guitar and sings lead vocals and harmonies. Marty Olson growls out lead vocals and improvises some lead guitar. Bob Waters plays blues harp, Mike Carbone is drummer and Tim Jorgensen is bassist.

Old Friends is a local band that plays a variety of music from old country to older rock and blues music with a dash of Cajun, Celtic and gospel. The band’s variety of instruments, music, humor and fun makes for an entertaining night for audiences of all ages.
