VCSU choirs to perform in concert
The choirs of Valley City State University will present their first concert of the 2018-19 season at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, in Vangstad Auditorium on the VCSU campus. Admission to the concert is free, but donations to support the work of the choir will be accepted.
This concert will feature the VCSU Concert Choir and University Singers performing a wide variety of unaccompanied choral music from across the history of Western music, including works by Peter Philips, Christine Donkin, Stacey V. Gibbs, Shaun Kirchner, Charles Stanford, Claudio Monteverdi, Maurice Durufle and Jester Hairston. The concert will also feature a solo performance by Grayson Marty, piano, as well as performances by members of the VCSU Opera Ensemble under the direction of Professor Robin Allebach.
The choirs are under the direction of Dr. Christopher Redfearn, who is in his seventh year as director of choral activities at VCSU. Members of the Concert Choir will embark on a performance tour to Italy in May 2019, including performances in Rome, Florence and Venice.
