Greenwood to sing at Shooting Star
“God Bless the USA” country singer Lee Greenwood will perform a live holiday show at Shooting Star Casino, Hotel and Event Center, located at 777 Casino Road in Mahnomen, Minn., at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21. In 1984, he released his platinum-certified, iconic single, “God Bless the USA,” which won the Country Music Association’s Song of the Year Award, and was voted the most patriotic song in America. In 1992, Greenwood released his album, “American Patriot,” which was certified platinum within three months.
Greenwood had at least 19 Top 10 singles and seven No. 1 hits. He has won numerous other industry awards including Male Vocalist of the Year for the Academy of Country Music in 1983, and two Male Vocalist of the Year awards from the Country Music Association in 1983 and 1984. Greenwood’s strong patriotism earned him the Congressional Medal of Honor Society’s Patriot Award and an appointment to the council of the National Endowment for the Arts in 2008.
