Morgan Geiszler collected her 200th career hit for the University of Jamestown softball team on Friday in Crete, Nebraska.

An RBI single in the fourth inning against Doane University marked the milestone for the junior shortstop from Horace, North Dakota, in an opening game won 7-3 by the Jimmies behind another strong outing from pitcher Kat Miska.

Miska struck out 17 batters before the Tigers bounced back to win game 2 by a final of 4-2, splitting the Great Plains Athletic Conference doubleheader. The Jimmies (27-11, 10-6 GPAC) resume conference play today (April 24) at Hastings College, Nebraska.

Geiszler is the seventh Jimmie player to reach 200 hits and the first since Mikayla Frost in 2019.

Miska pounded the zone all game, registering 81 strikes out of 99 pitches thrown, striking out the side in the first, second, fourth, and fifth, and racking up her 11th game with 10 or more strikeouts this season.

Katie Merchant drove in a run to kick off a four-run UJ second, which included Geiszler drawing a bases-loaded walk and first baseman Kassi Ward delivering a two-run single to left.

Jamestown scored twice more in the fourth, kicked off by Geiszler's RBI single. She'd later cross the plate courtesy of a Sydney Prussia double.

Geiszler finished the game batting 2-for-3 with a triple in the sixth inning, while Ward and Santina Zito also finished with a pair of hits.

Two of Miska's four hits allowed were home runs off the bat of Shelby Downard, who went 2-for-2 with a walk and drove in all three of the Tigers' runs.

Zito clubbed her third home run of the season leading off the second inning of game 2, but Doane equalized in the bottom half and run-scoring hits by the Tigers' Kayla Miller and Haley Kennedy put the home team ahead 3-1 in the fourth.

Kassi Ward singled home Mariah Wick in the top of the fifth to pull UJ to within a run, but Doane scored an insurance run in the sixth with a Blair Edeal RBI single.

Ward went 3-for-4 while Wick was 2-for-3 for UJ. Katie Merchant pitched all six innings for the Jimmies, striking out four.
