A Special City Council Meeting was held on Monday,
November 4, 2019 at 9:30 am at Streeter Farmers Elevator.
Aldermen present: Lloyd Veil, Bryan Spitzer, Audrey Ruff.
Mayor - Jeff Williams called the meeting to order.
Shon Kallis was in attendance as he has sewer backup in his basement.
Lloyd has asked the Department of Health for emergency draining at the lagoon. He is also pumping from the last manhole into cel one at the lagoon to relieve pressure. A larger pump will be rented to help with this process.
Darin Graber will be contacted to come in and pump out the manhole by the school to relieve sewer levels at Shon’s so the basement drains can be plugged.
The city will be providing the following declaration to Stutsman County in hopes of obtaining disaster assistance.
Emergency Declaration
Whereas, the City of Streeter has been severely impacted by significant late summer and fall rainfall and a historic October blizzard event throughout the City; and Whereas, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Climate Prediction Center (CPC) is projecting higher than average precipitation from December 2019 through February 2020, creating the potential for even greater flood concerns going into spring 2020: and Whereas, impact of this incident threatens the health, well-being, and public safety of the residents of the City of Streeter; and Whereas, the emergency/ disaster damages has/have exceeded or are expected to exceed local capabilities or available City resources to adequately respond and recover; Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved that the City Commission of Streeter, declares a disaster/emergency currently exists in the City of Streeter, Stutsman County, North Dakota.
