PINGREE BUCHANAN SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING MARCH 16th, 2022 A regular meeting of the Pingree Buchanan School District Board of Education was held on MARCH 16TH, 2022, at 6:00 P.M. in the high school. Present: Jeremy Sorenson, Kassie Fredrickson, Caitlin Striefel, JR Perleberg, Brandon Wilson Absent: Steve Homes, Trish Jungels Guests: Megan Wilson, Keith Striefel, Terrie Neys, Amber Krapp Amber Krapp recorded the minutes. Jeremy Sorenson called the meeting to order and declared a quorum present. It was moved by Fredrickson, seconded by Striefel and carried (all voting yes on voice vote) to approve the Agenda, with the addition of a staff resignation and a committee report from the Building and Grounds Committee. It was moved by Striefel, seconded by Wilson and carried (all voting yes on voice vote) to approve the minutes from February 16, 2022. It was moved by Wilson seconded by Striefel and carried (all voting yes on voice vote) to approve the financial reports and payment of bills as presented. Elementary Principal: Mrs. Neys has completed evaluations on the elementary teachers and staff. The roller-skating program just ended this week. Elementary girls volleyball has begun. We are planning a spring carnival in April. Mrs. Neys attended the Buchanan City Council meeting and they stated they’d be willing to give up space in the park for the new addition. Secondary Principal: Five students attended the Region 5 Acalympics in Wing this past Monday. Superintendent: There is an election coming up in June. JR, Trish, and Jeremy’s terms are up at this time. Mr. Toso gave an update on the budget. Mr. Toso has created a press release to let the public know that we are considering an addition to the elementary school building. Food costs are continuing to rise, which will be something to consider when setting the hot lunch prices for next year. We are working on the 22-23 school calendar. It should be ready for approval at the next board meeting. Filling staff positions is going to be difficult due to the current teacher shortage. Improvements to High School Baseball Diamond: Keith Striefel and Megan Wilson presented on the baseball diamond improvement project. The Pingree T-Ball program had 53 kids participate last summer. They proposed different options for the field. The school will discuss the current coop with Medina to see if we could host games in Pingree. It was moved by Perleberg, seconded by Striefel and carried (all voting yes on voice vote) to approve 7 open enrollments. The Bond Issue Discussion was tabled. It was moved by Fredrickson, seconded by Perleberg and carried (all voting yes on voice vote) to pay all future bills without Board approval, but still requires superintendent approval. It was moved by Striefel, seconded by Fredrickson and carried (all voting yes on voice vote) to approve a 4% increase to the elementary principal’s salary. It was moved by Striefel, seconded by Wilson and carried (all voting yes on voice vote) to approve stripping and painting the gym floor. The school will also price out quotes for logos to bring to another meeting. It was moved by Perleberg, seconded by Fredrickson and carried (all voting yes on voice vote) to approve the resignation of our current music teacher, Rochelle Jimenez. The next regular meeting of the Board will be APRIL 20th, 2022 at 6:00 P.M. It was moved by Wilson, seconded by Fredrickson and carried (all voting yes on voice vote) to adjourn at 7:45PM.
